10th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The 10th Annual General Meeting of the Burgher Association was held on Saturday 5th November 2011 at 6.30 pm, at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall,No. 114, Reid Avenue, Colombo 04. The following members were elected to office for the year 2011/2012.

10th Anniversary of the Burgher Association
Yes!It was a grand success and we had a great time!!
The Burgher Association is 10 years old! A grand Celebration Dinner Dance was held on 1st October 2011 at the Grand Oriental Hotel (GOH). It was a packed house with over 300 members and guests joining this memorable event. Our heartiest congratulations to the Dance Committee led by Dance Committee Chairman Mr. Kenneth de Motte, Vice President of the Association and Mr Hans Beekmeyer the President.
  
Well! The live band that provided music for dancing was the versatile musical outfit "Black" supported by the ever vibrant "Outburst DJs". This was the first dinner dance organized by the Association since the end of the war in our country and the dawn of peace. It was indeed a grand celebration of our 10th anniversary it true style.
 
By the way there were attractive prizes t0o. Former Exco member and staunch supporter of the association since its inception Mr. Rodney Koelmeyer, Chairman of Superlink Travels had once again come forward with a generous offer of the free Trip to the Holy Land. This prize was awarded to the winner of the entrance ticket draw. There was an excellent array of prizes on offer on the 10th anniversary raffle draw too. Congratulations Shirlene for a fantastic job on the raffle draw and the crowning of the Anniversary Prince and Princess.
 
The cutting of the anniversary cake by our Founder President Mr. Maxi Rozairo and a multimedia presentation of "Down Memory Lane" took us back to those days when we first started our association with so much of eagerness and enthusiasm.
 
Our heartfelt thanks to all our Sponsors, especially the main sponsor MAX TV, Co-Sponsor Singer Sri Lanka, Airline Ticket Sponsor Superlink Travels and print media Sponsor Daily Mirror. We also thank all those who participated in this historic moment of our association.
Christmas is a time of sharing
December 2010
Christmas being a time of sharing and giving, the BA maintained its tradition of sharing Christmas with others. The annual distribution of Christmas hampers among members of our Burgher community was held on 19th December 2010 at the Colombo YWCA premises in the presence of Mr. Maxi Rozario, Patron and Director, Mr. Trevor Ludowyke, Immediate Past President and Director and other members of the Executive Committee. A special feature of this year's distribution of hampers was a surprise cash donation from Australia which was handed over to the Vice President Mr. Kenneth de Motte by Mr. Felsinger who had come all the way from Australia on holiday. A special word of thanks to Mrs. Dawn de Kretser, Secretary, for organizing these hampers and obtaining donations from members, well wishers and even from abroad for this noble cause.
