A grand Raffle Draw awarded valuable prizes such as a Sofa Set courtesy of KOALA, a Singer Fridge courtesy of Modern Homes, a Microwave Oven and many more. The annual distribution of Christmas hampers among members of our Burgher community was held on 19th December 2009 at the Lion's Club House, Chapel Lane, Nugegoda in the presence of Mr. Trevor Ludowyke, President and other members of the Executive Committee.

30 deserving families received valuable hampers. The project was once again organized by Mrs. Yvonne don Paul, Secretary who had implemented this project on an annual basis for the past four years.

Generous Donations in cash and kind were made by our members and the Association is grateful to them for making it possible to share our Christmas cheer with these less fortunate families.

12th May 2009

A Madhatters Extravaganza "Madness in May" was held with a touch of class at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall on 2nd May 2009 inclusive of dinner, with the live  band "Black" and DJ Outburst in attendance.

Congratulations! Mr. Jerome Fernando, Chairman, Organising Committee, and his team including Yvonne Don Paul, Marie Adolphus, Trevor Ludowyke, Hans Beekmeyer, Dawn de Kretser, Langston Jansze and other members for their tireless efforts in making this an awesome event and a resounding success!

As several  members commented, the event had a touch of class and was one of the best events organized by the Burgher Association in the recent past.

A leading retro station Gold FM was the Media Sponsor while Red Bull gave a youth flair with their marquee to the atmosphere.  There were around 400 guests and members  who danced to the sounds of the band "Black".  A notable fact at this event were the large number of Burgher youth who attended the event.

Here are some pictures of the event.
