The event was well organized with Jerome Fernando as Chariperson/Organizing Committee. KOALA came in as Platinum Sponsor , Holcim as Gold Sponsor, EFM Radio, ETV and The Sunday Island as media sponsors.
Live Band "Black" and Dj "Outburst" provided music for dancing. The St. Thomas' Kotte Youth Choir sang carols while our own children took part in a colourful Nativity Play. Even Santa could not resist this exciting event and rode into the Kiddied Corner on a horse driven carriage to surprise the kids with gifts. A grand Raffle Draw awarded valuable prizes such as a Sofa Set courtesy of KOALA, a Singer Fridge courtesy of Modern Homes, a Microwave Oven and many more. Guest appearances by Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley look-alikes entertained the crowds too. Food Courts, and a fireworks display made this event a memorable one to those who attended. 12th May 2009

A Madhatters Extravaganza "Madness in May" was held with a touch of class at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall on 2nd May 2009 inclusive of dinner, with the live band "Black" and DJ Outburst in attendance.
Congratulations! Mr. Jerome Fernando, Chairman, Organising Committee, and his team including Yvonne Don Paul, Marie Adolphus, Trevor Ludowyke, Hans Beekmeyer, Dawn de Kretser, Langston Jansze and other members for their tireless efforts in making this an awesome event and a resounding success!
As several members commented, the event had a touch of class and was one of the best events organized by the Burgher Association in the recent past.
A leading retro station Gold FM was the Media Sponsor while Red Bull gave a youth flair with their marquee to the atmosphere. There were around 400 guests and members who danced to the sounds of the band "Black". A notable fact at this event were the large number of Burgher youth who attended the event.
Here are some pictures of the event.
